Chairman Tomczak opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Board members present were Supervisor Stegmeir, Clerk Manninen, Treasurer Callais, Deputy Clerk Stegmeir and 2 Guest.  All attending recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Agenda – The agenda was reviewed, Chairman Tomczak moved to approve the agenda as presented, seconded by Supervisor Stegmeir, all voting aye the motion carried,
 
Minutes – The minutes for the April regular meeting were reviewed. Motion by Chairman Tomczak to approve the minutes as corrected, seconded by Supervisor Stegmeir, all voting aye motion carried.
 
The Treasurer’s report was read by Treasurer Callais.

The Treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Chairman Tomczak, seconded by Supervisor Stegmeir, all voting aye, motion carried.
 
Claims – Supervisor Tomczak read the claims.
 
Frontier Phone Co. – Phone and Internet – $69.78
North Star Electric – Town Hall - $143.00
Amazon.com – Supplies - $29.66
SLC Auditor - 2nd half snow plowing – 2nd Half Snowplowing

PPSSD Claims – Septic Check - $2,000.00

Chairman Tomczak moved to accept the claims and pay them in full, seconded by Supervisor Stegmeir, all voting aye motion carried.

Old Business
             
PPSSD  -   The air conditioner should be installed soon in the control room.  USA has more work to do up here on property ascetics.            
 
Roads & Trails –  Road supervisor Stegmeir looked over the roads and reported that things are good at this time.
Community Building/Town Hall – Marlene reported that the Community Club would like to hire Brian Logergren to install the new flag pole and flag, the handicap sign and the new information box to go outside the town hall.  Marlene also reported that she has contacted Senator Bakk, Representative Ecklund and Representative Rukavina in regards to possible funding for the Kabetogama Fire Department Heli pad.

NEW BUSINESS
Kevin and Miranda from Voyageurs National Park attended this meeting and gave updates on the park.  Visitors Centers will be open 7 days a week from 9 – 5 beginning on the 26th of May and will be closing the last week of September.  Miranda gave us a fliers with the programs that will be run this summer and fall.  These flyers will be distributed throughout the area.  Some areas that will be getting work done in the future are Kettle Falls Dam look out, Ellsworth rock garden, the hiking trails, new docks at the Kabetogama Visitors Center, new LED lights at the Kabetogama Visitors Center.  Work will continue in Rudder Bay, the mat will be removed and the silt mat removed.  The canisters will not be removed from the visitor’s centers.  The National Park Service and Voyageurs National Park Association to Host State of the Park Events.  Park Superintendent, Bob DeGross will discuss park accomplishments in 2017 and what’s in store for 2018.  The public is encouraged to attend and learn about upcoming park projects.  The dates for these are as follows:  May, 1 -  4:30 to 6:30 at the Ranier Community Hall, May 2, 4 to 5:30 at the Ash River Visitor Center, May 10, 6 to 7 at Crane Lake Fire Hall and Mau 15 in Minneapolis.  Details to be announced.  There will be a Coin Forum at the Kabetogama Town Hall on June 13, 2018 at 5:00 pm.  A Voyageurs National Park Quarter Launch & Coin Exchange will be held on June 14, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Irv Anderson Amphitheater, 360 Highway 11 E, International Falls, MN.
The Local Board of Appeal & Equalization meeting will be held on May 3, 2018 from 10 to 11 am at the Kabetogama Town Hall.

Supervisor Stegmeir moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:11 pm. Seconded by Chairman Tomczak, all voting aye Motion carried.
