Kabetogama Township Regular Meeting January 2, 2018 Draft
Chairman Stegmeir opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Board members present were Supervisors Tomczak and Kec, Clerk Manninen, Treasurer Callais, and Deputy Clerk Stegmeir. There were two guests in attendance. Board members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Agenda – The agenda was reviewed, Chairman Stegmeir moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Supervisor Tomczak, all voting aye the motion carried,
Minutes – The minutes for the December regular meeting were reviewed. Motion by Supervisor Tomczak to approve the minutes, seconded by Chairman Stegmeir, all voting aye motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Treasurer Callais. Financial Report Checking – Beg Bal December 1, 2017 – $148,098.47 Income - $804.35 Total Expenses - $140,348.24 End Bal. December 31, 2017 – $140,348.24 Road Fund - $17,129.80 Road CD’s - $43,058.53 Road Fund Bal - $60,188.33 Checking CD - $25,908.89

The Treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Supervisor Tomczak, seconded by Chairman Stegmeir, all voting aye, motion carried.
Claims – Clerk Manninen read the claims.
Frontier Phone Co. – Phone and Internet – $69.95 North Star Electric – Town Hall - $166.00 SLC Auditor – Spec. Assess, Tax Statements - $103.25 Business Essentials – Office Supplies - $71.83 Mary Tomczak – Town Hall Cleaning - $261.00 St. Louis County Association of Townships – Dues - $472.08 Total - $1,144.11 PPSSD Claims – Septic Check - $5,631.85 North Star Elec. - $1,056.00 Total - $6,687.85
Supervisor Tomczak moved to accept the claims and pay them in full, seconded by Chairman Stegmeir, all voting aye motion carried.
Comment Period: Alan Burchell suggested that the township replace the light bulbs in the office with LED bulbs.
PPSSD - Letters went out by e-mail and one by mail to the members of the PPSSD to provide information on the operation of the Sanitary Sewer District. It covered Construction, Operation, Finances and the 2018 Membership Payments. There are about 7 members that have not acknowledged receipt of this e-mail. There will be further contact on those cases. Supervisor Tomczak moved to accept the new contract, (2018), with Septic Check for the Operation and Maintenance of the Puck’s Point Sanitary Sewer District System, seconded by Chairman Stegmeir, all voting aye motion carried. The first loan payment is due in February then August.
Planning Commission – Clerk Manninen read the minutes of the December 11, 2017 Planning Commission meeting. The board approved the purchase of a swing open door message board (32”x32”) for $214.00, to be installed on the outside wall of the Town Hall. Keviin will look into LED lighting for the outside lights that will come on from dusk to dawn to illuminate the board. John Stegmeir has a design for the Little Library and has offered to construct it. The Community Club will pay for the materials. Marlene Tomczak would like to see a flag pole at the Town Hall to be dedicated to the Township Officials who have passed away. Kevin and Betsey will check into sources for acquiring the flag pole. There have been residents who are having trouble reading the new digital sign installed at the Town Hall. A suggestion was made to contact the company to see if the sign could be moved or turned slightly towards the road. As of this meeting the company did not contact Marlene on this matter. Jill Kiner’s board position on the Planning Commission will expire so the Clerk will post the position in the Journal. Kevin has reported that the netting that the Park used to attach the bog to Rudder Bay will pose a threat to snowmobilers. The Park will build a lane for snowmobilers to travel through safely. Kevin reminded everyone that the ice conditions are unstable. Kevin will ask the Clerk if she can post this on the digital sign outside the Town Hall.
