Chairman Tomczak opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Board members present were Supervisor J.Stegmeir, Supervisor L.Kec and Deputy Clerk C.Stegmeir.
 
Agenda – The agenda was reviewed, Supervisor Kec moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Supervisor Stegmeir, all voting aye the motion carried.
 
Minutes – The minutes for the March regular meeting were reviewed. Supervisor Stegmeir moved to approve the minutes, second by Supervisor Kec, all voting aye motion carried.
 
Deputy Clerk Carol Stegmeir read Treasurer’s report.

The Treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Supervisor Kec, seconded by Supervisor Stegmeir, all voting aye motion carried.

Supervisor Kec moved to accept the claims and pay them in full, seconded by Supervisor Stegmeir, all voting aye motion carried.
Comment Period – None
 
Old Business –
PPSSD – Supervisor Stegmeir reported as of March 2019, PPSSD treatment center is back online after being shut down for the winter. Township incurred approximately $1,000 in extra maintenance expenses this past winter. Expenses were related to pumping problems on one property site/unit.
 
PPSSD troubleshooting. Crandall’s septic service pumped one property unit’s waste as needed until early April, when Septic Check was able to come in and steam out system to determine cause of problems. It was determined problems were caused by faulty Check Ball and not a frozen system.
 
Supervisor Stegmeir submitted a form for review and approval. There is a sale pending for a property in PPSSD. Current property owner has not hooked up to sewer system and potential buyer is interested in hooking up to PPSSD. Form will be used by buyer to request hookup. Chairman Tomczak made motion to approve form. Supervisor Kec seconded, all voting aye motion approved.
 
Community Sewer – Supervisor Stegmeir reported Kabetogama Clean Water Initiative (KCWI) Steering Committee has been meeting regularly. Committee will be sending informational letter to all property owners explaining their intent to personally contact property owners to determine if there is interest in setting up a Subordinate Sewer System. After personally contacting property owners the steering committee intends to organize a petition for a subordinate service district in service areas C,F,G,H and J.. Supervisor Stegmeir requested Township cover postage and clerk time expenses related to sending the letters. Chairman Tomczak made motion to cover expenses, Supervisor Kec seconded, all voting aye motion passed.
 
Roads - Supervisor Stegmeir reported Township roads are in good condition. Repair needed  on a  culvert on the Pucks Point road near GrandView Lodge.
 
Community Center – Chairman Tomczak reported She and Betsey Warrington did a deep clean of Town Hall kitchen
 
John Reamer, a summer resident who previously donated flag pole and US Flag, donated a Minnesota flag. US and Minnesota Flag are displayed on Township flag pole.
 
Chairman Tomczak concerned about sediment seeping into water. She will contact Kolstad Olson to see if adjusting position of the pump in the Town Hall well will help eliminate sediment coming into water.
 
New Business
Local Board of Appeals and Equalization - Chairman reminded supervisors of Board of Appeals and Equalization meeting scheduled for Thursday April 18, 2019. Supervisors Tomczak, Kec and Stegmeir and Deputy Clerk C. Stegmeir will be attending.
 
Voyageurs National Park Association – Chairman Tomczak reported Township received letter requesting financial donation to Voyageurs National Park Association. Discussion followed. Supervisor Kec made motion to support association at shooting star level of $150.00 donation. Supervisor Stegmeir seconded, all voting aye, motion passed.
 
Liquor Licenses – Chairman Tomczak requested following liquor license for review and renewal: Arrowhead Lodge, Kab Outdoors, Kecs Kove, The Ledge, Pines of Kabetogama and Pine Aire, and Sandy Point Resort.
 
Discussion followed, Supervisor Stegmeir made motion to approve liquor licenses, ChairmanTomczak seconded, all voting aye motion passed.
 
Lodging Tax Letters – Kabetogama Lake Association requested Township Supervisors review Four Lodging Tax Letters. Letters address licensing and tax requirements for vacation rentals by owners. Chairman Tomczak read letters aloud, discussion followed. Supervisor Kec made motion to approve letters, Chairman Tomczak seconded, all voting aye, motion passed. Kabetogama Lake Association will be responsible for tracking vacation rentals by owner and mailing appropriate letters as needed. Letters will be written on Township stationary.
 
May 7th Township meeting – Paul McDonald, St. Louis County Commissioner for our area will attend our May 7th Township meeting. Supervisor Stegmeir will assemble flyer to post throughout community promoting May meeting. Commissioner McDonalds appearance will also be advertised on Township website page and Township sign.
 
Supervisor Kec made motion to adjourn meeting, Supervisor Stegmeir seconded, all voting aye motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
